URL4: Mrs. W DUMBRELL, of Many Peaks, has been advised of the sad news that her husband, Sergeant Walter DUMBRELL, was killed in action on the 19th of April. Sergeant DUMBRELL, formerly a police constable, enlisted in Rockhampton on the 18th of September 1915, and left Australia on the 16th of May 1916, and went into action on the 24th of November of the same year. He was sent from France to England on the 1st of September 1917, as a lewis-gun instructor and had charge of a training battalion. He left England again for France on the 26th of February of this year. Sergeant DUMBRELL also served in the South African War.
