URL4: From forty to forty-five members of the company, which was officially known as D Squadron, 8th Battalion Australian Commonwealth Horse, expressing their desire to remain in South Africa, were given their discharges there, about seventy of them returning home. Captain ROBERTS was the only officer of the force to return with them. Lieuts. MILLS and FARMER are on board the transport, Britannic, which arrived at Albany yesterday [20.7.1902] afternoon. Lieut. BERESFORD, the other officer who went to South Africa attached to the force, is remaining there.
URL5: This week's issue of the "Western Mail" contains an excellent photograph of the four officers who were the last to leave Australia to take part in the Boer war. They are Captain ROBERTS, and Lieuts. BERESFORD, FARMER and MILLS, who went in command of the West Australian section of the Third Commonwealth Contingent.
