DEFENCE OF KIMBERLEY Authorised by Army Order No. 94" by D.R.
Forsyth. Amongst other things, Forsyth's roll lists 5664 recipients of
the
Defence of Kimberley clasp identified from the original unit medal
rolls held in Section WO 100/12 to WO 100/301 in the UK National
Archives (formerly the UK Public Record Office, Kew). Typically, the
information available is surname and initials, rank, regimental number
and unit plus the various clasps awarded. Forsyth's Defence of

This booklet of 48 foolscap pages is a consolidation of relevant unit
medal
rolls. As well as providing Name (surname and usually initials), Rank,
Number, Regiment and listing the other QSA clasps received in addition
to Wepener, Stan Kaplan's book also includes a Remarks column that can
be very helpful. Typically, that mentions casualties, commissions,
discharge dates and service with other units. Copies of Kaplan's
Wepener Bar Roll may possibly still be available

Rolls of the Two
Ceylon
Units that Went to the War" by Sergei de
Silva-Ranasinghe
published in "The Kope" (the Journal of the Anglo-Boer
War Study Group
of Australia) number 52 of 19 March 2006. This is the handout
(4
A4 pages) that accompanied Sergei's presentation to the Study Group on
Ceylon's contribution to the Boer War. As well as providing name,
rank and unit/contingent for the Ceylon soldiers based on "Ceylon in My
Time 1889-1949" by TY Wright, Colombo (Apothecaries 1951), it also
provides details concerning the 12 Ceylon casualties. There is also a
schedule of the number Boer arrivals in Ceylon (circa 1900-1901) by
date, vessel and whether Transvaalers, Free Staters or Uitlanders.
