National Capri Muster and CCC4 - November 2003
The weekend contained a very full programme of events:
- Friday evening -:- Early Bird registration, meet and greet in the courtyard at the
beautiful art deco Kurrajong Hotel. Most stayed socialising until about 9:00 pm.
- Saturday morning -:- Breakfast at Old Parliament House, followed by an Observation Run
ending at an under-cover picnic spot for lunch. Prizes for the ObsRun included some
extremely attractive items donated by Ford Australia.
- Saturday evening -:- Dinner at "The Curve on the Square", including a Trivia
Quest and live TV crosses to the IRB Rugby World Cup final.
- Sunday -:- A leisurely convoy from pickup points in north Canberra, to the Deep Space Communication Complex at
Tidbinbilla. There we had a late breakfast at the Moon Rock Cafe, followed by an
information session about the work of the facility (including the story of its part in the
1969 Apollo Moon mission, which was made famous by the movie The Dish). Then
there was judging and presentation of prizes in three Show 'n Shine categories - Best
Early Capri, Best Late Capri, and People's Choice. The three trophies were donated by Roadway
Mufflers of Belconnen.
- The weekend wound up late Sunday afternoon with a tour and tasting at the Kamberra
Winery.
In all, 55 people from as far apart as Brisbane and Geelong, with others from
Newcastle, NSW Central Coast, Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne, and of course the Canberra
region took part in some or all aspects of the event. They travelled in 27 vehicles - four
