2nd National Capri Muster and CCC5 -:- 29-31 October
2004
More than 24 vehicles and 50 people took part during the weekend. And once again, all
states on the east coast were represented (and the ACT of course). Next year, SA and
Tassie too? (And maybe even Julia from WA, now that's she's been made famous in a national
motoring magazine?)
- Friday evening -:- Registration, meet and greet, drinks & bites in the courtyard at
the beautiful art deco Kurrajong Hotel, with jazz trio in the background.
- Saturday morning -:- Breakfast at Australian National Botanic Gardens, then off to
Sutton Road for an adrenalin rush. Mid-morning, while the petrolheads stayed focussed, the
"quiet ones" commenced an Observation Run through the vineyard and former mining
areas east and north of Canberra, returning to Sutton Road for a barbecue lunch and more
thrills. Many of them succumbed to temptation, and as some of the photos show, the most
unlikely people were seen "having a go".
- Saturday evening -:- Dinner at the Heritage Hotel in Narrabundah, including a Trivia
Quest. A late night, and then coping with the switch to Daylight Saving Time and the loss
of an hour's sleep.....
- Sunday -:- Breakfast at the Southern Cross Yacht Club on Lake Burley Griffin in
Yarralumla was followed by an interesting tour of Canberra (with equally interesting
hieroglyphic instructions), ending at the Australian War Memorial for lunch and judging of
the Show 'n Shine (sponsored by Rare Spares and Auto 1).
Here we were also fortunate enough to review a parade of the Light Horse - see photos in
last row.
Nineteen Capris from all up the east coast (and Canberra region of course) took part -
three Mk 1 and 16 SA-SE convertibles including two Tickford Clubsprints, one
Clubsprint clone, two XR2s, two Barchettas, and nine SA including one with a
1.8 litre SOHC engine and serious bodywork. Also another six "foreigners"
took part in the sporting events on the Saturday.

Trevor & Erin from Sydney.
