Seminar Summary - 17 March 2013

Reflections upon the Sixtieth Alfred Korzybski Memorial Lecture

"Fool Me Twice: Fighting the Assault on Science"
 Presented by Shawn Lawrence Otto

and
Weekend Symposium
 by various Pesenters

at The Princeton Club, New York, USA on 26-28 October 2012

Presented by Robert James

1. Catching Up

There was plenty to catch-up on since we last met, as we brought together accounts of our very different experiences and reflections of the last few months.WritingThis is a "living document", subject to ongoing evolution as recollections re-emerge from our memories of the event, and are re-evaluated in light of ongoing experience and reflection.  It will never be "the full truth and nothing but the truth", or "a map that expresses everyone's notion of the territory"!

2. Reflections of the Year past and the Year Ahead

We reflected on our experiences of 2012, outcomes against expectations, and what we wanted and expected for this year already started.

3. RJ's Reports of the AKML 2012 in New York

Robert was privileged to attend the Alfred Korzybski Memorial Lecture (AKML) on Friday evening 26 October last year, and the Symposium on Saturday and Sunday.  It was a great experience for me, and certainly a boost for the AGS liaison with our parent organisation, the Institute of General Semantics (IGS).

I am most grateful for the generous support of the Institute (IGS) and numerous people in this venture.

RJ's New York experience!

4. Consideration of some of the Materials Brought Back from NYC for our Library

Marty Levinson's "Practical Fairytales" was a particular hit!

Next Meeting:

Sat 20th April 2013
"Application of GS"
You will not be spoon-fed material in lecture format.
Instead the participants will work at the problem
of how to apply GS formulations.
So expect a interactive and challenging session.

Presented by Mr David Hewson

10:30am - 4:30pm at Bonnet Bay, Sydney, Australia.
